THEME:

Be grateful for your salvation. Don’t take it for granted. Live differently. Submit your life to Jesus. Because he is worth it. What he did for you was stunning. It’s earthshaking. And it could only happen one way. Through Christ’s sacrificial death, you were once far from God, and now you have been brought near to him.

KEY SCRIPTURE:

Colossians 1:21-23

Colossians 1:21-23

And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Before Christ, you were dead in sin, far from God, and hostile to Him

Romans 5:12

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned…

Colossians 1:22

He has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him.

Sin separated you from God, but Christ’s sacrificial death bridged the gap

Romans 8:3b

By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh.

Colossians 1:23

If indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Because you are near to God, you can live a life that reflects his saving work in you
