When he [Jesus] had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So, they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. LUKE 5:4-7 (NIV)

In a world that values polish over vulnerability, we’re reclaiming the power of awkwardness. Why? Because awkward is authentic and charming. It’s a breath of fresh air. Sometimes in our quest to be seen as competent, professional and sophisticated, we forget the value of being real. Isn’t it interesting how we love and appreciate awkwardness in others yet fight it off when we feel it in ourselves? Moms self-report loneliness in staggering statistics, probably because they feel no one truly knows the truest version of themselves. And there’s one way to make that happen—by getting awkward.

It’s simple but powerful: Once you give yourself permission to be awkward, fear loses its edge. This is when growth happens, relationships deepen, and obedience moves us from frustration to abundance. Perhaps, awkwardness isn’t a weakness but your greatest asset. What a liberation!

We’re entering a new era of earnestness. It’s about showing up as awkward as necessary to express real kindness to other moms. We will be wild, weird, fun, authentic and a little freer. We will become comfortable embracing our unique spark because denying it leaves everyone around us starving for warmth and light.
This year is about to get awkward … in a good way.

The MomCo (short for Mom Community) is an organization passionate about mobilizing moms all over the world to build life-changing communities! The MomCo is for all moms whether pregnant with your first baby or sending your kid off to middle schoolMomCo is a non-profit organization that encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women and leaders, in relationship with Jesus and in partnership with the local church. MomCo — then, simply known as MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)—was founded in 1973 when seven women in Colorado invited moms to meet regularly to grow together as women, parents, and leaders, with the ultimate goal of reaching women with the hope of Jesus. Today, the small gathering they called MOPS now extends to 101+ countries, 25 languages, 72,000+ meetings a year and influences over a million moms annually.

What happens at a MomCo meeting?

We meet two Thursday mornings per month (September through May). A typical meeting includes brunch, a great speaker and time to connect with ladies at your table! We value building community and plan playdates and moms night out events throughout the year.

What will my children be doing during a MomCo meetup?

Your children will be watched over by loving and competent volunteers. Moms are encouraged to bring non-mobile, nursing infants if they are comfortable.

Why is joining The MomCo important?

The MomCo is a great place to connect with other moms who are in the middle of the busy season of life that comes when parenting small children. We get it. Motherhood is beautiful, messy, hard, and it’s a lot better when you have a few good mom friends to share the journey with you.
