THEME:

In the last section of Colossians chapter four, Paul shows us a team of hard-working, committed disciples—all serving under the supremacy of Christ. To spread the gospel is a team sport. So where do you fit? What does God have for you? It’s important to decide because in order to make your life count, you must bow before Jesus and make him known.

KEY SCRIPTURE:

Colossians 4:7-18

Colossians 4:7

Tychicus will tell you all about my activities. He is a beloved brother and faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord.

Use Paul’s gospel-centered army of believers as your example

Colossians 1:15-17

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

We bow to Christ because He is the perfect resemblance and representation of God

We bow to Christ because he is Creator and is Sovereign over His creation

We bow to Christ because he is Savior and the head of the church

Colossians 1:18-19

And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

Colossians 3:12-14

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

We live out a Christlike life because of what He has done for us

Colossians 4:5-6

Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Colossians 4:18

I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.
