THEME:

The Bible is very clear: love is vitally important to God. The apostle Paul urged the believers in Colossae to live out a kind of love that would make them stand out in a sick and distorted culture. It’s important to discover what it looks like to embrace, celebrate, and go “ALL IN” on love.

KEY SCRIPTURE:

Colossians 3:12-14

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Going “All IN” on love means loving in ways the world doesn’t understand

Going “All IN” on love means your life should clearly reflect who you are in Christ

Attitudes Christians Are to “Put On”:

  • Compassion — feeling others’ pain and moving toward it
  • Kindness — love that shows up in action
  • Humility — choosing others over self
  • Gentleness — strength under control
  • Patience — grace when people grow slowly

Colossians 3:13

Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Going “ALL IN” means forgiving others in the same way that God forgave you

Ephesians 4:32

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Isaiah 53:6a

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way…

Love is what holds everything together — so go “ALL IN”

Colossians 3:14

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
