THEME:

We can manage appearances, but we can’t fake who we really are. In Colossians 3, Paul reminds us that following Jesus isn’t about improving behavior — it’s about a transformed identity; one that reflects the work of Jesus in you. So the question is: Who are you…really?

KEY SCRIPTURE:

Colossians 3:1-4

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

As a believer, you have a new identity. You are raised with Christ.

Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

As a believer you have a new direction. You can focus on things above.

1 Corinthians 15:58

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Colossians 3:3-4

For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Jesus provides security and hope that is active now and forever

Colossians 3:4

When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
