THEME:

A major error in our culture is treating the way we live out our faith as the only correct way — and then judging others when they differ. But many biblical ideas that these convictions are based on, function more like signposts. They point us toward Christ — they are not Christ himself. Don’t get lost in endless theological or political battles. Keep driving in the right direction. There, you will find Jesus.

KEY SCRIPTURE:

Colossians 2:16-17

Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

True spirituality isn’t achieved through effort or performance — it is found by resting in the sufficiency of Christ

False Teachers:

Christ + religious practices = true spirituality

Colossians 2:17

These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

Disciplines may guide you, but only Christ himself can give you the fullness your soul longs for

Hebrews 10:1

For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near.

The Law guides you — but Christ saves you

Colossians 2:16-17

Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.
