THEME:

Jesus could have given up. But he didn’t. He fulfilled his mission. He suffered on the cross and rose again. The resurrection of Jesus validated Old Testament writings about this amazing event. It lined up precisely with what he claimed would happen, and it fueled the Apostles desire to tell the world about him. Maybe God is calling you to do something and you are hesitating. Or, on some days, you feel like giving up. Like Jesus, focus on what’s ahead. But no matter what happens, and no matter how hard it gets, just keep going.

KEY SCRIPTURE:

Mark 9:30-32

They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know, for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.” But they did not understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him.

Hebrews 4:15

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Jesus could keep going because he knew, and trusted, the Father’s plan

Matthew16:21

From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on she third day be raised.

 Matthew 17:22-23

As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them,

“The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed.

The Resurrection’s power to help you keep going is previewed in the Old Testament

Matthew 12:40

For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Psalm 16:9-10

Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.

Acts 2:30-32

Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.

You can keep going because the Apostles testified to what they saw with their own eyes

John 21:25

Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.

Romans 6:4

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Acts 3:15

…and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

1 Peter 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…

1 John 1:1-4

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.

The Resurrection enables you to experience the power of God in your everyday life

Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
