Learning How to Lavishly Love Jesus
March 24, 2024
THEME:
Mary, the sister of Martha, knew what it meant to love Christ. She gave him everything, and held nothing back. You too can learn to follow her lead and love Jesus lavishly. When you are willing to release everything to him, regardless of the consequences, you will experience him in ways that you never thought possible!
KEY SCRIPTURE:
John 12:1-11
John 12:1-2
Six days before the Passover, Jesus therefore came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at table.
Be on the lookout because Jesus will provide opportunities to show your love for him.
John 12:3
Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
The way you lavishly show your love for Jesus may not make sense to anyone else.
You can lavishly love Jesus out of gratitude because he died on the cross for you.
John 12:4-6
But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it.
Satan will often attack when you lavishly show your love for Jesus.
Proverbs 13:20
Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
John 12:7-8
Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial. For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.”
John 12:9-11
When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus.
Love the Lord lavishly because when you do, you’ll be celebrating the one who is risen, who is alive, and who is the Forever King!
